Refresh Your Knowledge of the Key Parts of Your Septic System

  • Septic System – An On-Site Sewage Management System (OSSMS) manages the house’s waste production. The OSSMS is designed specifically for the original house plan based on the number of bedrooms, bathrooms and occupants. If occupancy increases, the load on your septic system will also increase.
  • House Sewer – Also known as the ‘Building Drain,’ the house sewer uses gravity to lead waste into the tank.
  • Inlet Baffle Tee –Inlet Baffle Tees divert wastes downward toward the bottom of the tank to help prevent the septic tank from short circuiting.
  • Distribution Box – The distribution box disperses the wastewater through a series of multiple pipes.
  • Drain Field – A drain field is the final treatment in the process to remove the pathogens and all of the infections from the wastewater. The drain field is designed for the home according to the soil characteristics and size of the home from the original house plan.

Septic System Repair

A septic system’s average lifespan is estimated at 15 to 40 years, but it may last longer if properly maintained. When it comes to expanding your septic tank’s lifespan, the cost of maintenance is trivial compared to the expense of installing a new one. Septic systems may start to deteriorate at a certain age. Our septic technicians can repair damage for both inlet and outlet piping as well as within the tank itself.

Drain Field Repair and Replacement

The septic drain field is installed according to the ideal location on the property. The system needs downward flow at a safe distance from the house to process wastewater. Over years of constant use, the soil closest to the drain field system becomes contaminated with pathogens. This and other problems like root intrusion can cause severe damage requiring repairs or replacement of the drain field.

Septic Tank Pumping

Tanks pretreat the wastewater entering the septic system. Once a tank reaches 50% volume of solid waste, the septic pumping process kicks in to prevent overflowing the tank or drain field. A malfunction to your septic pump needs immediate attention. Health departments recommend septic tank pumping in East Bay Area every 3-5 years for safe, efficient operation.

Septic Tank Installation and Replacement

Large tree roots or construction projects may prompt septic tank replacement. Whether you’re upgrading or in need of new installation, our installers can set you up with the best option for your home’s needs.

FAQ

ADDITIONAL CHARGES MAY INCLUDE

The standard depth of a septic tank is 18 inches. If your tank was installed deeper than 18 inches, an additional fee is charged for the extra work unearthing the tank. We also may have to adjust costs if the tank is under a deck or covered with concrete/landscaping.

To avoid problems like these, your septic tank should be pumped and inspected every three to five years. Solid sludge and debris will accumulate if this vital maintenance service is ignored. Water may need to be pumped in to break up the solid waste. This can then be removed and disposed of with our trucks, incurring additional charges.

There will be additional charges for any other services that are not related to the actual pumping of the septic tank. These items include but are not limited to the servicing of the line from the house to the tank, repairs that may be needed to the tank or repairs that may be needed to the field line system.

All pricing, including additional charges, is given up front to be agreed upon before work is performed.
